Great Fool
When a child grows up without being taught the meaning of cause and effect, they enter adulthood with a bizarre perception of reality. Kibwana possessed no ability to anticipate the consequences of his actions before executing them. To him, the world was like a cartoon where a heavy boulder could crush someone's head, only for them to rise, dust themselves off, and keep walking without a single scratch.
Following his eccentric wedding to the identical triplets—Natalie, Nadege, and Natasha—Kibwana's lifestyle demanded substantial financial expenditure. Maintaining three wives under one roof required top-tier provisioning. When Kibwana's boss at the IT firm, Mr. Machache, decided to dock Kibwana's salary due to repeated tardiness at work, Kibwana didn't consider reforming his ways or putting in honest effort. Instead, he decided to 'get even' with his boss on a Wednesday midnight.
Kibwana returned to the office at midnight wearing a face mask and gloves like a movie burglar. He broke the padlock on Mr. Machache’s office door, stepped inside, and grabbed his boss's laptop along with an expensive glass coffee table. But while in the middle of this 'night heist,' his back pocket happened to be stuffed with loose papers. A single sheet dropped onto the floor unnoticed and remained behind amidst the chaos.
Crime Scene Evidence:
The dropped paper was neither an old receipt nor an expired license; it was a crisp copy of Kibwana's very own Curriculum Vitae (CV)! It displayed a large color photograph of his face, his full name, phone number, home address, and a list of his credentials, including "Advanced Network Security Expertise"!
The following morning, when the Police and Detectives arrived at the crime scene, Mr. Machache was holding his head in distress. But when the Lead Investigator picked up the CV off the floor and read it, he turned to Mr. Machache in utter bewilderment and asked: "Mr. Machache, were you burglarized by a thief, or did your employee drop by at midnight to submit a salary raise request?"
Shortly after, the Police found Kibwana at his residence wearing a bath towel, attempting to power up his boss's stolen laptop while his three wives prepared breakfast for him. When the Police slapped handcuffs on his wrists and held up the CV recovered from the crime scene, Kibwana didn't panic. He examined the sheet attentively, shook his head, and remarked with deep relief:
"Officers, thank you so much for picking up my CV! I searched everywhere for it last night when I was grabbing this laptop from the office. I thought I had lost it along the main road!"
The arresting Inspector stood frozen, staring at him without uttering a single word. He couldn't discern whether he was apprehending a dangerous criminal or an individual completely devoid of common sense!
That CV incident concluded with the family once again paying compensation, but Kibwana's lifestyle forced him to retreat to Mkuia Township, a small rural settlement where no one knew him well. In that town, local elections for the Mayor and Ward Chairman were underway.
The local politicians were full of empty promises and betrayals. The townspeople were thoroughly exhausted by the disputes and sarcastic mudslinging between both candidates. It was here that Kibwana's 'Great Fool' mentality found a brand-new arena to perform miracles.
Kibwana stood up at a public town hall rally. Dressed in his faded suit, he grabbed the microphone and delivered a speech that etched itself into the town's history:
"People of Mkuia! Both of these politicians are liars! One promises to build a bridge where there is no river, and the other promises electricity where there are no houses. Why should we vote for greedy human beings? I propose we elect 'Duke'—the neighborhood stray dog! He cannot steal public funds, he cannot make false promises, and he eats only bones!"
One would expect the crowd to laugh and chase Kibwana off the stage. But because the residents were so frustrated with politicians, Kibwana's proposal was taken with astonishing seriousness! On election day, many citizens cast protest ballots, writing down the stray dog's name, 'Duke', on their voting slips.
When the results were announced, Duke the dog had won by a landslide of 78 percent of the total votes! Kibwana earned the appointment of Chief Advisor to the Dog Mayor. Every morning, Kibwana would lead the dog on a leash into the Mayoral office, seat him in the executive chair, and set down a bowl of milk and bones. Kibwana himself signed all municipal documents on behalf of 'His Worship the Mayor' and stamped them with the dog's paw print!
Whenever citizens came to complain about poorly maintained roads, Kibwana would observe them intently and say: "The Mayor has heard your grievances, but he is currently resting under the shade tree after his meal of bones. Return tomorrow—if His Worship barks twice, it means the budget has been approved!"
While reading this story brings gut-busting laughter, the bitter psychological truth remains: when a society loses focus and proper upbringing, even the most absurd antics of a 'Great Fool' can end up accepted as a legitimate way of life!
Kibwana's antics were still far from over...
